Open Meeting at Memorial Hall to review the revised plans to build a Hall on the Lye. Plans amended in response to a number of concerns raised, but the fundamental point as always is - should it be built on the Lye, on Common Land ?

Over the weekend volunteers have been visiting local houses to deliver 400 leaflets and then collect up any comments and forms completed. 8 local people spent Saturday morning visiting the houses in the centre of the village. Overwhelmingly the response was positive towards 2 things - Rebuilding the Memorial Hall, BUT not where it is proposed. Most thought the existing site was suitable and as consent exists the only sensible option. This will, no doubt, present a funding problem to the MHA. And this appears to be the nub of the problem. The Village is going to have to have its say, and provide the required support.

A meeting is planned with our local Councillors during the next week to review their views and seek support for ours. We have several supporters wanting to involve our MP as well and this may happen collectively or individually. Or both !

Extant Planning Consent also covers the land to the right of Festival Path in the Woods before Carolyn Close.

13/03/2006 Planning Application 03/0952 and 0953 were made in 2003 by Memorial Hall for rebuilding on existing site. This Appliication was passed - so there is consent for the existing site. So why make a fresh application when all you need is a bit more funding ? Or why not build to your budget and complete when funds allow. That is what the rest of us have to do.
